My lovely girl Kerp got me Borderlands today, and I am about to install it.  Anyone else playing the PC version?  We must play together.

For the uninitiated, Borderlands is a 4 player co-op FPS/RPG (think Left 4 Dead + Hellgate, and Hellgate's genes aren't dominant) that was released for PC yesterday.  It's all about loot, like Diablo, but takes place in a mad max post apocalyptic setting.

Anyone?  Lets do this.

i was able to browse the servers and connect to a few. i would get kicked off by admins cause i look like i have a hacker name (i just hit my keyboard until it accepted one combo of letters).

But yeah, gearbox dropped the ball.

Be sure to edit the .ini files to remove mouse smoothing, and perhaps enable Vsync.  There is a setting for enabling the mouse wheel to scroll through quest text, but it only works after you've accepted the quest and are checking again in your log.  

I'm still trying to get a private online game to work, but so far, this game is a lot of fucking fun.  It has motivated me to work towards a new computer for the full experience, as I will be spending a lot of time playing this game.  I played the hell out of Hellgate London because I love first person shooting combined with RPG fixings... and this game is a lot better.

There is some sort of PVP from what I can tell, but whether it goes beyond duels I don't know.  I can imagine guilds having PVP tournaments with a referee from each guild present while the two 'contestants' duel, for the total of 4 players per game.

it wouldnt take a ton to be better than Hellgate London, alot of unrealized potential there.
